June 14 is World Blood Donor Day, a day in which blood donors are celebrated around the world. The 2018 theme focuses on blood donations as an act of solidarity with the slogan, “Be there for someone else. Give blood. Share life.” World Blood Donor Day is a day not only to focus on the importance of giving blood and the role that it plays in saving lives, but also to thank those and remember those who give blood so that others may have the chance at life.
If you have never donated, it is a good day to look into it, or to find a blood drive near you and start! If you have or are a donor, it’s a great day to re-dedicate yourself to giving that most precious gift of all: the gift, literally, of life.
To all those who donate, we at Malta-Stillwater EMS say a heartfelt “THANK YOU!”
